We7
Free and legal music for the download generation
Award-winning music site We7 (www.we7.com) uses patent-pending technology, to offer free, advertising-funded music.
We7 works by grafting short, 10-second adverts onto the front of each streamed or downloaded track. Ads are based on a consumer’s demographic such as age, gender and location and can be extended into personal preferences. This tightly targeted advertising ensures that brand messages reach receptive ears while consumers can receive and share music legitimately and artists continue to receive royalties. For those who don’t want adverts, there’s an option to buy the track at normal price.
Launched in 2007, We7’s vision is to become the leading free and legal web destination for music on demand. We7 has a licensed catalogue of over 3.5 million songs from all major record labels including Sony/BMG, Warner Music, EMI and Universal and many leading independent labels. Advertisers to date include Microsoft, Cafe Direct, Sony Ericsson and Intel.
Headquartered in Oxford, We7 currently focuses on the European market. In its first year We7 was the 2008 BT’s DMA award winner for Best Digital Music Service and also won the Interactive Category at the prestigious Hospital Club Creative Awards.
