New Dimension Wireless Builds Pre-Paid Mobile Network on Apertio One
12 February 2006
Chosen as most scalable, affordable and open solution
New Dimension Wireless has ambitious growth plans, to secure two million subscribers by the end of 2006, and required a scalable network architecture that utilized a common subscriber profile supporting multiple applications. Forming the heart of New Dimension Wireless' network, Apertio One provides an open, flexible, standards-based solution that is fully interoperable with tier one roaming partner networks for radio access coverage. This is critical for start-up MVNOs as it radically reduces infrastructure costs, allowing them to offer a competitive and compelling offering that has longevity in the market.
Operating as a MVNO, New Dimension Wireless is able to deliver and control unique services to its own subscriber base through Apertio One-PPS and Apertio One-HLR, and leverage tier one GSM operators' network infrastructure. Headquartered at 1201 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington DC, USA, they plan to deploy an all pre-paid network, capable of supporting international pre-paid roaming via a USSD architecture, in April 2006.
"There is an increasing shift in the industry towards a software-based core network infrastructure," said Andrew Wyatt, vice president, worldwide marketing, Apertio. "Start-up MVNO's are capitalizing on this trend and as they have no legacy network to migrate - they can realise the benefits immediately. By choosing Apertio One, New Dimension Wireless can go to market quickly, in a cost-efficient manner and is able to offer market leading services."
Apertio was selected following a vigorous four-month market assessment of 12 vendors.
"Following assessment of the market, Apertio is the ideal option, meeting our business requirements, and allowing us to be up-and-running in weeks," said Earl Jacobs, CEO, New Dimension Wireless. "Apertio One-PPS supports our plan to take market share in the pre-paid mobile sector as it allows very high transaction rates, full scalability and supports a wide array of charging scenarios, as well as advanced voice and data services."
By choosing a centralized approach, rather than conventional disparate repositories, New Wireless Dimension benefit from reduced whole-life cost of between 5 and 10 times and service delivery from 12 months to less than two.
